The fall color is spectacular, a scintillating mixture of yellow, red and orange. Fothergilla is adaptable to a variety of light and soil conditions but produces the best flowers and fall foliage in full sun and well drained, organic soils.

Fothergilla major typically grows 6-10 ft tall and wide; it is useful in shrub borders, perennial borders and mixed plantings.

Fothergilla gardenia grows to about 3-4’ tall and makes an efficient foundation planting where true dwarf height is required.

Hardy in zones 4-8
